Abstract

The knowledge of infection control practices among healthcare workers plays a critical role in preventing healthcare-associated infections and safeguarding patient well-being. This research paper aims to explore the multifactorial factors that influence the knowledge of infection control practices among healthcare workers. The study will adopt a mixed-methods approach, incorporating quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews or focus groups. Healthcare workers from various healthcare settings will be included to capture a diverse range of perspectives. The quantitative phase will involve administering a structured questionnaire to assess healthcare workers' knowledge of infection control practices, including hand hygiene, sterilization, disinfection, isolation precautions, and safe waste management. The survey will also collect data on demographic characteristics, professional experience, previous training, and perceived barriers to adherence. The qualitative phase will involve interviews or focus groups with a subset of participants to gain in-depth insights into their experiences, challenges, and perceptions regarding infection control practices. Thematic analysis will be employed to identify key themes and patterns. The study will also examine the influence of organizational factors, such as leadership support, availability of resources, and communication channels, on healthcare workers' knowledge of infection control practices. Additionally, the impact of training programs, continuous education initiatives, and feedback mechanisms on knowledge enhancement will be explored. The findings will provide a comprehensive understanding of the multifactorial factors that influence healthcare workers' knowledge of infection control practices. This knowledge can inform the development of targeted interventions, policy recommendations, and educational strategies to enhance infection control practices and reduce healthcare-associated infections.
