Abstract

Pandemic situations, such as the COVID-19 outbreak, pose significant mental health challenges for healthcare workers, leading to increased stress levels and psychological distress. This research paper aims to explore the multidimensional factors that influence the mental stress experienced by healthcare workers during pandemics. The study will employ a mixed-methods approach, integrating quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews or focus groups. Healthcare workers from different healthcare settings will be included to capture diverse perspectives and experiences. The quantitative phase will involve administering a structured questionnaire to assess the mental stress levels of healthcare workers during the pandemic. Additionally, the survey will collect data on demographic characteristics, work-related factors, such as workload and exposure to COVID-19 patients, social support, coping mechanisms, and access to mental health resources. The qualitative phase will involve interviews or focus groups with a subset of participants to gain deeper insights into their experiences, challenges, and perceptions regarding the mental stress associated with pandemic situations. Thematic analysis will be conducted to identify key themes and patterns. The study will also explore the influence of organizational factors, such as leadership support, communication channels, and availability of resources, on healthcare workers' mental stress. Additionally, the impact of self-care practices, social support networks, and mental health interventions will be examined. The findings will provide a comprehensive understanding of the multidimensional factors that contribute to the mental stress of healthcare workers during pandemic situations. This knowledge can inform the development of targeted interventions, policies, and support systems to promote the mental well-being of healthcare workers and enhance their resilience during challenging times.
