The article investigates impact of Chinese philosophy and its relevance in current times - namely the ideas proposed by Confucianism, Daoism, Legalist. They stress that this is where they have a common notion about harmony which is so central to social equilibrium and personal virtue. Confucian education overemphasizes benevolence and propriety to stabilize social ranks. Daoism: Non-action (wu wei) that embodies ecological morality, aligning with the renovation of ancient institutions. This is known as legalism The same harsh view of laws imported often from other places, provide for social order through rule-based governance. The two philosophies collectively provide ideas on how today's problems can be solved, with environmental sustainability and social equity being just the beginning. Through concepts such as harmony they offer routes to fairness and sustainability in education, policy-making and corporate ethics.
